Goodbyes
Cinema was my Home before I knew what the Word Meant.
The first movie I watched with Tim Curry was Charlie's Angels, believe it or not. He voiced a villain, to the surprise of absolutely no-one, and I have loved him ever since. Gradually, over time, I would find him in the classics like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" as Frank n' Further, "Annie" as Rooster, "The Greatest Adventure" (forgive me I was raised catholic and we had a PLETHORA of catholic cartoon CDS and DVDS at home), "Scary Movie 2" as the Professor, "Garfield 2" as the Prince, "Clue" as Wadsworth, and of course, my personal favorite, "Barbie and the Three Musketeers" as Philippe.
He played an evil clerk, the devil, pollution personified. He was cunning, and sexy, and fun, and always up to any sort of project, big or small, for a simple and sheer love of the profession he was in. He loved cartoons, and had no problems playing into camp or buffoonery. I love you Tim, and will miss you now and always.
I would also like to pay respects to Dolly Parton, the angel she was, able to fight the stigma directed at tramps and sex workers for how they presented or dressed themselves. Someone fighting for the rights to education and literacy, someone who loved everyone equally.
And Peter Cullen of course, of whom I heard today of his passing. Our dear Optimus Prime, Captain Flint from "Treasure Planet", Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh and so, so many other wonderful characters.
These people helped shape our industry for decades, in music, cinema, theater and animation, and will forever be in our hearts as the beloved stars they are. Thank you for the laughs, the tears, and the inspiration.
